This spinach smoothie is a refreshing and energizing way to start your morning. The earthiness of the spinach pairs well with the acidity and sweetness of the granny smith apple. The almond butter adds a nice sumptuous and umami flavor to smooth out the spinach and apple. The dates bumps up the sugar profile to support the sweetness in the apple. The lemon and the maca powder add the acidity and brightness to the shake. If you want to super charge your day, then blend one of these shakes in the morning.

  • Wash the Produce 3 Minutes

    Place the produce together in a colander and wash with cold water. Let the water drain and dry the produce with a paper towel.

  • Dice the Apples 2 Minutes

    Stand the apple on a cutting board. Slice down vertically next to the core of the apple to create one quarter. Complete three more times until you have four quarters. Lay each quarter flat on the board and slice lengthwise then slice crosswise to create cubes. Video

  • Halve the Citrus 2 Minutes

    Place your lemon, lime, orange or other citrus on the cutting board with the stem facing outwards. Using one hand, hold the citrus fruit with the claw grip and use your knuckle to guide the knife as you slice the citrus fruit in half. A serrated bread knife will work best for cutting through the skin.

  • Blend the Ingredients in a Vitamix or Similar Blender 5 Minutes

    Place your sliced greens in the shake and add the water. Start the mixer on low and gradually increase the speed until high. Blend until all the greens are incorporated into the liquid. Squeeze in the citrus and any other ingredients. Blend until it becomes a smooth watery liquid.
